Bigger, better type

Q: What's the story behind the world's biggest typewriter?

Reaching 15 feet in height, stretching 12 feet in length - and weighing 14 tons - the machine shown at the 1915 Panama Expo that would forever change the way people would communicate in writing wasn't actually the first of its kind.

It was a century earlier in 1808 that the first typewriter was invented by Italian entrepreneur Pellegrini Turri who was trying to make a machine that would allow his blind girlfriend to better communicate with him and others.
