Earthquake rattles China-Russia border

SINGAPORE: An earthquake of magnitude 6.7 hit near the China-Russia border yesterday, but its epicentre was extremely deep and there were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.

The quake, which occurred at 9:13 a.m. Beijing time, was centred midway between the Russian city of Vladivostok and Chongjin, North Korea's third largest city.

It struck at a depth of 563 km, the United States Geological Survey said.
