Paternity tests needed after deliveries

By Wang Chao | China Daily | Updated: 2010-02-11 07:58

After July 1, parents of babies born in places other than the hospital will need to take paternity tests to get a birth certificate, Beijing municipal health bureau has announced.

The bureau issued a document in 2003 saying "either a statement from the person who delivered (the baby), or a certificate from the residences' committee, or a paternity test" would be needed.

The change rules out the other two options.
