BRT's trial run 'a success' residents doubtful

By Zheng Caixiong | China Daily | Updated: 2010-02-11 07:53

GUANGZHOU: The long-waited Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) lane project, which is designed to ease traffic congestion in Guangdong's provincial capital, started a trial run yesterday amid criticism from local residents.

Several residents feel BRT, which occupies four lanes, will make the city's traffic worse.

The controversial project has been under attack ever since its construction kicked off in November 2008, causing severe bottlenecks in Guangzhou.
