Smoke out gaming addiction with taxes

There is a skyrocketing number of Internet addicts among young Chinese. There reportedly were 24 million by 2009, almost double the figure in 2005. The predominant cause of Internet addiction is not hard to identify. Late at night, Internet cafes across China are packed with young people who appear like they haven't taken a shower in days and who are playing online games such as World of Warcraft.

Games such as World of Warcraft fall into the category of "massively multiplayer online games" that allow a player to participate in an online world with thousands of players. They can potentially take over and destroy a player's real life. They have turned some Internet cafes into modern day opium dens.
