LOS ANGELES: Mike Dunleavy has stepped down as head coach but will keep the title of general manager of the struggling Los Angeles Clippers, the National Basketball Association team said on Thursday.
Replacing Dunleavy, on an interim basis, is assistant coach Kim Hughes. Dunleavy led the Clippers to just one winning season in six years.
"It just seems clear that the team needs a fresh voice and we hope our players will respond in a positive way," Clippers president Andy Roeser said. "Mike's experienced input will be vitally important as we continue to develop our young talented nucleus and shape our team's future."
