CSIC announces 17% upswing
The China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC), one of the country's two major State-owned shipbuilders, announced that its operating revenue rose 17 percent last year, despite the global economic recession's impact on the export-oriented sector.
The Beijing-based company said it had generated a total revenue of 120.9 billion yuan, a more than sevenfold increase compared with its figures for the year 2000. Its profits also increased by 18.5 percent to reach 7.4 billion yuan.
