Govt should take public complaints seriously: official

'Harsh and unreasonable' attitudes strongly criticized

GUANGZHOU: A senior Party official yesterday strongly criticized some government departments for not taking public complaints seriously, saying it was a major reason for the increasing number of mass incidents in the province.

Zhang Guifang deputy Party secretary of Guangzhou, the Guangdong provincial capital, said some Party and government officials had insulted residents, who visited their departments with their complaints, and challenged them to go to the central departments in Beijing.
