By Zhao Yanrong | China Daily | Updated: 2010-01-29 08:31

A Xicheng district court judge said yesterday that the number of first-time and repeat-offender drug-related cases is on the rise.

Seven suspects involved in six drug-related cases were sentenced yesterday at the court, with jail terms of between one and four years for selling and holding drugs, and harboring drug users.

"There has been an increase in the number of drug cases recently, and we have never sentenced as many as six of these cases in a single day before," said Ma Yue, presiding judge of the court.
