China hopes talks will help

China hoped the international meeting on Afghanistan in London would help speed up Afghanistan's reconstruction process, a Foreign Ministry spokesman said yesterday. Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi was scheduled to attend the London conference yesterday and deliver a speech, spokesman Ma Zhaoxu told a regular press briefing.

China expected participants of the conference would hold in-depth discussions and evaluate the situation and major challenges in Afghanistan objectively and accurately, Ma said.
