Former official sentenced

A former official convicted of corruption has been sentenced to 15 years in prison plus a forfeit of 500,000 yuan ($73,250), Zhang Zhonghou, president of Jiangxi Higher People's Court said in the third session of the local provincial people's congress yesterday.

Xu Jianbin, former deputy director of the provincial Department of Land Resources, was accused of accepting 2.2 million yuan ($324,000) in bribes. The prosecution has recovered 630,000 yuan ($92,300).
