China's role 'constructive'

Beijing can shift the international focus on Afghanistan from the escalation of the military presence to helping Afghanistan and Pakistan with development, said Masood Khan, Pakistani ambassador to China.
The international community hasn't paid enough focus on helping the central Asia neighbors' economic development, which is an important part of a "two-track" means to eradicate terrorism in the region, according to Khan.
"At the London conference, China can ensure that participating states, while taking decisions on military matters, do not lose sight of the critical role of economic development in the fight against terrorism," the diplomat said.
