City schools set for 'wave' of primary students

Up to 140,100 children are expected to enter local classrooms in 2013

Primary schools are bracing for a sudden influx of students as a new wave of baby boomers enters the classroom starting in 2013.

An official, surnamed Zhao, in charge of primary schools at Xicheng district commission of education, told METRO that latest estimates call for more than 8,000 students to enter primary school in the district in 2013. There were only 5,000 in 2009.
