New permits expected to improve lives of migrants

Experienced nannies and technology graduates might benefit first, expert says

Migrant workers and skilled workers are expected to benefit from a change in the resident permit system in Beijing, an expert said.

"It has been a plan for a while to replace the existing temporary residence permit system in Beijing, but the details have not been defined yet," said Xiao Mingzheng, head of the government department at Peking University.
