Seniors' suicide trend worrying observers

With more than 30 percent of people who commit suicide in Beijing being elderly, the mental health of the capital's senior citizens has been troubling a member of the Beijing CPPCC.

Zhao Rongguo, from the Chinese Peasants' and Workers' Democratic Party, raised the issue during the gathering of the Beijing CPPCC on Saturday.

The democratic party carried out research in 2009 that identified elderly people as the group most strongly linked to suicide.
