No smoking in public

Smokers in Shanghai will have to be more disciplined and careful while indulging in their craving for nicotine at public places, according to a local regulation, which is expected to become effective on March 1.

Smoking will be completely prohibited in the interior and periphery of facilities where minors congregate, such as kindergartens, children's hospitals and schools, under the Shanghai Public Places Smoking Control Regulation that is the first province-municipality-level decree to tighten the grip on smoking.
