Official investigated

Fang Shunhai, the deputy chairman of the Political Consultative Conference of Shantou, Guangdong province and director of the United Front Work Department of the Communist Party of China Shantou committee, is being investigated for serious discipline violation, the provincial discipline inspection commission said yesterday.

Fang, 55, a graduate of Beijing Foreign Studies University, used to work in the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From July 1993, Fang worked in Shantou.
