Chinese instruments

The Chinese National Orchestra will stage two concerts featuring traditional Chinese instruments to usher in the Lunar New Year. Entitled Ode to Joy, it will have solo performances of the pipa, dizi and guqin, as well as concertos, featuring the dizi and other traditional instruments. Veteran conductor Chen Xieyang, 71, will hold the baton. Also a pianist and composer, Chen is well-versed in both traditional Chinese and Western music.
