South African PMI rises
South Africa's purchasing managers' index (PMI) rose for the fifth consecutive month in December as a rebound in manufacturing strengthened, Kagiso Securities Ltd said.
The seasonally adjusted index increased to 52.5 from 50.3 the month before, Johannesburg-based Kagiso said in an e-mailed statement yesterday. A reading above 50 indicates an expansion in factory production.
