New Chevrolet Sail

The subcompact model from General Motors' joint venture with SAIC Motor Co Ltd has four-cylinder engine options of 1.2-liters and 1.4 liters. The 1.4-liter version generates maximum power of 76kW/6000rpm and offers peak torque of 131Nm/4200rpm. The model, equipped with a five-speed manual gearbox, has a top speed of 170 km/h and accelerates from zero to 100 km in 11.9 seconds.

The Sail's lowest fuel consumption is 5.7 liters per 100 km. The car, which retails between 56,800 and 68,800 yuan, mainly competes with Volkswagen's Polo and the Fit form Honda and is likely to put pressure on a slew of Chinese-brand subcompact models. GM also plans to export the Sail to India and other overseas markets in the near future. The model is 4,249 mm long, 1,690 mm wide and 1,500 mm high. Its wheelbase is 2,465 mm.
