New twist to old tale

The old Chinese story Huang Liang Yi Meng, or A Golden Millet Dream, written during the Tang Dynasty (AD618-907) has been adapted into a fantasy drama Huang Liang Meng that combines magic, acrobatics, dance, rap and aria.

The story centers on a poor student Lu Sheng who is heading to the capital to take the examination for appointment as an official. On his way, Lu meets a Taoist master and complains about his hard life. The master then gives him a pillow and says it will makes all his dreams come true. Lu dreams that he is very rich and marries a beautiful maiden, is appointed as prime minister and all his children become high-ranking officials.

The original story ends with Lu getting nothing in the end, but the director of the drama Bian Faji says there is a surprise awaiting audiences.
