Company Special: CLP lights up first customer with RE

HONG KONG: An unprecedented renewable energy (RE) approach adopted by the CLP Group, a key Asia Pacific electricity investor-operator, will not only light up one of Hong Kong's outlying islands, but renew the lives of key beneficiaries of the project on the island: drug rehabilitants.

Town Island, also known as Dawn Island or Fu Tau Fan Chau, is a remote and undeveloped outlying island located at the southern tip of the Sai Kung Peninsula, which requires a one-hour ferry ride from Sai Kung Ferry Pier.

Residents on the island, about 50-70 rehabilitants of different nationalities and 16 staff, are all from Operation Dawn, a registered Christian charitable organization that aims to provide a comprehensive rehabilitation program to eradicate users' drug dependency.
