Families and friends were yesterday still anxiously awaiting news of eight Chinese buried under rubble in the Haiti earthquake which may have killed up to 50,000.
Four of the eight are peacekeepers on a United Nations mission while the other four are from a six-member group of the Ministry of Public Security, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Jiang Yu told a regular press briefing yesterday.
They were holding peacekeeping consultations with UN staff in the headquarters of the UN Stabilization Mission in Port-au-Prince when the quake struck, the Ministry of Public Security said.
