False info for cheap housing

Almost a third of the people who have applied for low-rent housing in Shanghai over the past two years have submitted "false financial information", the Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau revealed yesterday.

According to the latest statistics from the city's center for residents' economic situation verification, from 2007 to the end of last year, 4,162 out of a total of 12,370 applications contained false information. Among them, 701 applicants had received help from their employers to submit false documents.
