Hu welcomes ambassadors
President Hu Jintao accepted credentials presented in Beijing yesterday respectively by the ambassadors to China from Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Poland, Ghana, Libya, Mongolia, the Republic of Korea and Iceland.
The eight new ambassadors are Marija Adanja from Slovenia, Libor Secka from the Czech Republic, Tadeusz Chomicki from Poland, Helen Mamle Kofi from Ghana, Taher E. A. Jehaimi from Libya, Tsedenjaviin Sukhbaatar from Mongolia, Yu Woo-ik from the Republic of Korea and Kristin Arnadottir from Iceland.
Sino-British ties
Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi yesterday held a telephone conversation with British Foreign Secretary David Miliband, exchanging views on promoting bilateral ties.
Both sides agreed to make joint efforts to promote healthy and stable development of the two countries' relations and boost cooperation on the basis of mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit.
The two top diplomats also exchanged views over Afghanistan and Iran nuclear issues.
Yang is currently in Algeria on a two-day visit.
