Peek into private eye

One professional snoop reveals the secrets of his trade, one that's growing in pace with infidelity. Lin Qi reports

Zheng Fan (not his real name) got into the business of snooping on suspect spouses after his own heart was betrayed. A decade ago, his fiance ran off with her online boyfriend. The office worker went to a private detection agency in hopes of finding his missing lover.

There, he met a woman who had been swindled out of 60,000 yuan ($8,784) by her boyfriend, who had suddenly vanished without a trace. All she could offer the agency was the man's name, so the company turned down her case.
