Car bomb injures officer

A bomb exploded under a car in Northern Ireland on Friday, seriously injuring a police officer, police said, in the latest of increasingly frequent attacks in the province.

A police spokeswoman said the officer's injuries were very serious. Local member of the British parliament Willie McCrea said: "I understand he is seriously ill but stable in hospital."
