Wealth gap poses 'a serious threat'

China's widening wealth gap is posing a serious threat to its social stability, sociologists warned on Friday. "There has been an increasing number of mass disturbances occurring in recent years related to the yawning gap," said Yan Ye, the vice-professor of the North China Institute of Science and Technology.
