Mystery surrounds murder-suicide

Police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide involving a village head in Shunyi district who allegedly murdered a female farmer before taking his own life on a railway line two hours later, a Shunyi spokesperson said yesterday.

The 52-year-old village head, surnamed Luo, is believed to have killed the 43-year-old woman, surnamed Wang, on Dec 11 at the office of the village committee, which is less than 200 m from Wang's home, an official with the publicity department of the Party's Shunyi committee told METRO yesterday.

He said there were obvious wounds on Wang's face and a struggle appeared to have taken place in the bloody office.
