Stricter limits for festival fireworks

By Zhao Yanrong | China Daily | Updated: 2010-01-08 07:59

There will be tighter bans on fireworks this Spring Festival, one year on from a dramatic blaze that ripped through the iconic CCTV complex.

Beijing police updated its regulations Wednesday to further limit which types of firecrackers could be sold and used in the city.

The capital uses a four-category system for fireworks. Previously only Class A was prohibited within the boundaries, but Class B was also added to the list this year.
