Mine blast deaths rise

The death toll from a gas explosion at a coalmine has risen to six, with five miners still missing, local authorities said yesterday. The miners were working in Malishu Coal Mine in Shuangbai county of the Chuxiong Yi autonomous prefecture, when the accident happened about 1:50 am on Monday. The bodies of five miners were recovered at the ventilation shaft while the sixth was found 70 m from the exit of the mine on Tuesday evening.
