Lawsuit over hiring

Three applicants filed a lawsuit yesterday against a local human resource and labor security department that had denied them civil service jobs.

Foshan authorities said earlier that the three applicants, who had passed written tests and interviews, failed to meet physical requirements because they are carriers of the thalassemia gene, which can cause anemia.
