Paean to Beijing

Beijing-based folk singer Hao Yun will share his love for this city today, singing of its amazing transformation as a thriving metropolis of great diversity. The veteran folk singer's concert, Sing Folksongs for the City from Hao Yun, will feature all his classic songs of the past decade.

Having studied various musical instruments since childhood, the native Beijinger taught at a local middle school for six years and was a big motorbike fan. He recalls that his favorite pastime riding his bike on the ring roads and small lanes of the city, sampling an authentic Beijing - its architecture, its smells and its people.

Hao combines folk, funk and rock with this understanding of the city to create his own language of music.
