New Year concerts

The 2009 Worldwide Chinese Festival Orchestra New Year's Concert will be held at the National Center for the Performing Arts (NCPA). The concert on Dec 27, conducted by Chen Zuohuang, who is the music director of NCPA, features Berlioz's Roman Carnival Overture Op 9, Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto in E Minor Op 64 and Dvorak's Symphony No 9 in E Minor, From the New World Op 95. And the second session on Dec 28, with American Chinese Jahja Ling holding the baton, includes such programs as Franz von Suppe's Poet and Peasant, Mozart's Sinfonia Concert for Oboe, Clarinet, Horn, Bassoon and Orchestra, and Shostakovich's Symphony No 5.
