French Ligue 1: Lyon drop 10 points back with draw at Monaco

China Daily | Updated: 2009-12-22 08:02

PARIS: Olympique Lyon further undermined their chances of recapturing the Ligue 1 title after a 1-1 draw at Monaco dropped them 10 points behind leaders Bordeaux on Sunday.

Seven-time champions Lyon, who lost their crown to Bordeaux last May, started well, Brazilian midfielder Michel Bastos (pictured) putting them ahead with a super angled free kick on 22 minutes.

The home side, however, earned a share of the points when Korean forward Park Chu-young volleyed home a Sebastien Puygrenier headed pass 12 minutes later.
