Profile of Jinshan Industrial Zone

Shanghai Jinshan Industrial Zone is a municipal-level zone supported by the Shanghai government. Established in 2003, the modern and eco-friendly area was designed to look elegant and efficient by Singapore Jurong Consulting Co Ltd.

Covering 58 sq km in southwest Shanghai, the industrial zone can be divided into five major parts: pharmaceuticals (9 sq km), new energy and energy efficiency (7 sq km), new materials (5.45 sq km), machinery and electronic appliances (12.5 sq km) and the food processing industry (2 sq km). The other space is shared by roads, public facilities and parks.

Jinshan benefits from its location at the center of the Yangtze River Delta economic hub. It is 48 km from downtown Shanghai, 42 km from Hongqiao Airport and 58 km from Pudong Airport. Meanwhile, Yangshan Port is 60 km away and Hangzhou Bay Bridge only half that distance. The location provides easy access to air, rail, road, inland waterway and sea links.

The industrial zone is home to prestigious enterprises including Kanai Tokusen Shanghai Co Ltd (Japan) and Fukusuke Industrial Co Ltd (Japan). Thanks to its favorable policies, excellent service and well-developed facilities, it continues to attract domestic and overseas enterprises. For example, several foreign-funded enterprises such as Exxon Mobil, Philips and Cognis have chosen to set up their companies in Jinshan district.

The industrial zone ensures that each enterprise enjoys the best service and facilities, with electricity, running water, telecommunications, broadband Internet and cable TV supplied. Three 220kv substations and 15 35kv substations are either being planned or built to meet demand. Companies also get the benefit of the zone's professional consultancy service on a range of topics from investment to construction. Every project comes with a guarantee that it will be finished on time.

Investors also find it easy to recruit well-trained labor. Several education and occupational training institutions are located nearby. These include the East China University of Science and Technology and various technical colleges.

The industrial zone caters to its residents' needs, from education to health care and entertainment. The 158-hectare primary center is located in the middle of the industrial zone and will house 15,000 people. The center will become the hub of administrative areas, business conference and exhibition, financial service, cultural education, recreation and living of the zone. Residents can opt to shop at Ruixin Department Store, Shihua Department Store, Hymall, Lotus, Lianhua, Hualian, Tesco, among others. The Medical School of Fudan University, Jinshan Affiliated Hospital, Shanghai No 6 People's Hospital Jinshan Branch and other key medical institutions in Jinshan district are capable of offering convenient and good medical services to enterprise employees.

Providing clients with cost-effective investment opportunities and satisfying their top concerns is the chief mission of Jinshan Industrial Zone.
