Even as the widespread enthusiasm generated by US President Barack Obama's maiden visit to the country last month seems to be fading a bit, discussions are hotting up on the fate and direction of China's ties to the world's sole superpower.
Obama had reached out extensively to Chinese at all levels of society and held in-depth and candid talks with the country's leaders on issues of common concern during the visit.
The positive signal from his Beijing trip, coming on the back of effective communication channels forged by the two nations, has certainly given a new fillip to ties.
