High cost of H1N1
A new mother who just recovered from a serious case of H1N1 said her medical treatment totaled more than 170,000 yuan ($24,888), state broadcaster China National Radio reported yesterday.
Yan Miao, who had a close encounter with death after giving birth to her daughter in November, was saved by a lineup of eminent doctors in the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University. She has already paid 120,000 yuan for her care, but still has a debt of 50,000 yuan.
