While world leaders grapple with the issue of carbon emissions at the ongoing UN climate change conference in Copenhagen, the concept of Lohas (Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability) is slowly but surely entrenching itself in Chinese lives.
Lohas, or Le Huo (literally "live happily" in Chinese) refers to a lifestyle that advances personal well-being and development, while taking into account the impact on the environment.
The Second China International Lohas Forum, that ended over the weekend, called on people to adopt energy-saving behaviors to help curb carbon emissions, like taking the stairs instead of the lift, using fewer paper napkins, and switching off all electronic equipment when not in use.
