Prisoners asked to become informers

By Zhang Yan | China Daily | Updated: 2009-12-14 07:52

A complaint system was introduced at detention houses in Chongwen district on Friday to curb prisoner abuse and encourage tip-offs, local prosecutors said.

More than 300 inmates in district safe houses were given leaflets that state they can meet a chief procurator if they have major tips or complaints. Chongwen is the first district to enact this system in Beijing.

It was introduced to protect the rights of detainees, Cao Limin, vice-present of Chongwen Procuratorate, told METRO.
