Gang robs ancient Qing tombs

By Qin Zhongwei | China Daily | Updated: 2009-12-14 07:52

Six people have been arrested for digging up ancient graves in the first tomb raiding case in five years in downtown Beijing.

The six men were arrested on the evening of Dec 8 at a construction site in Hongyan Market, Chaoyang district, and a seventh person ran away. One of the tombs had been opened, police said.

The ringleader, surnamed Li, allegedly told police that the group found the site using skills, including fengshui, passed down through his family.
