The romantic comedy Happy Dinner won popularity for its unexpected plot and excellent performances by a number of famous actors and actress from the mainland and Taiwan, including Ning Jing and Brenda Wang.

Taiwan director Chen Li-hua tells a story about a successful man's extramarital affair. He plans to give a big birthday party for his lover at his villa when his wife leaves to go to her mother's home. He invites a group of friends, who know nothing about their relationship, but the situation turns messy.
