Questions raised over safety of uniforms

By Zhao Yanrong | China Daily | Updated: 2009-12-11 07:57

School uniforms produced by two Beijing companies and used by some major schools can lead to cancer or cause skin rashes, the city's quality supervision bureau said.

The bureau investigated 11 clothing companies supplying school uniforms in the third quarter . Two were found to have quality problems.

The samples from Beijing Aolongqi (ALQ) Dressmaking Co Ltd contained aromatic amine, a harmful dye, which may cause cancer after long-term contact with skin, the Beijing bureau of quality and technical supervision said on its website.
