China as a responsible power

As major emitters of carbon dioxide as well as powerful economies, China and the US have drawn worldwide attention for their stance on climate change at the Copenhagen conference.

The former George W. Bush administration repeatedly refused to ratify the Kyoto Protocol which is a UN-sponsored accord aiming at reducing the global emission of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases in order to alleviate global warming.
