Media houses scout for global tie-ups

Media groups from China are upping the ante when it comes to promoting their TV shows and scouting for tie-ups abroad.

Seven media giants, including major mainland-based broadcasters Shanghai Media Group (SMG) and Hunan TV took part in the recently concluded Asia Media Festival in Singapore, and signed three memoranda of understanding aimed at forging closer relationships with their overseas counterparts and distributing more Chinese TV shows overseas.

In 2008, the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television introduced these media groups to the festival, but this time they took part independently.
