Cut target great, but details needed
It is praiseworthy for China to announce an ambitious target of 45 percent reduction in carbon intensity, which has been supported with abstract sentiments of energy saving and renewable energy. It would have been more compelling to see some figures of what actions would be taken on which emission sources. That would be suggestive of a strategy rather than plucking a number that sounds good.
Energy saving and renewable energy are not going to offset the rise in demand for energy because of the expected increase in population and industry. Hence, they are unlikely to achieve more than a few percent reduction in carbon emissions.
