German television apologizes for Chinese insult

A German television station has apologized for a program that some deemed humiliating to Chinese.

"We never intended to humiliate Chinese people or hurt their feelings with our program Heute Show," said Markus Schachter, the director general of German state television ZDF.

"I again give my apologies and please forward it to all Chinese people," Schachter wrote in a letter to the Chinese embassy in Berlin, reported China News Agency.
