Street Angel
The musical adapted from the eponymous 1940s movie is back for the second year running in Shanghai, with some changes. Borrowing the best-loved songs from the movie, the musical retells the story of a group of young and beautiful people in an old Shanghai slum and their pursuit of happiness.

The Unexpected Guest
This is one of the few plays that novelist Agatha Christie actually wrote herself. The play will be staged in Chinese. A guy drives his car into a ditch in heavy fog and has to walk to a nearby house for help. Unfortunately he walks into a murder scene. Laura, holding a gun, stands by her dead husband, and admits to having killed him. The man agrees to help Laura, but finds there is more to the tale than meets the eye.

Sisters on Stage
This dance drama about Yueju (folk) singers in 1940s Shanghai pursuing artistic perfection and moral integrity in a difficult age was adapted from a movie of the same name in the 1960s. The show will be presented by Shanghai Song and Dance Troupe. Many of the songs derive from the folk music of the Yangtze Delta, as well as melodies in classical Yueju Opera.

He Jiaying

Daniele Heusslein-Gire
The 68-year-old French woman is a versatile artist, doing paintings, sculptures, photography, stage design, and so on. Her first exhibition is going on at the newly-opened Hongqiao Contemporary Art Museum, showcasing 74 pieces of her creation, most of them paintings and photographs. Her video art works are also presented.

Winter Exhibition
This exhibition shows the diversity of artists represented by the IFA gallery, including emerging artists from China and Vietnam. Oyama Tadashi
Forty-five prints by Japanese artist Oyama Tadashi are exhibited at Hongmiao Art Gallery located in a 100-year-old temple off Nanjing Road E. Tadashi's artworks have a basic visual character: inheriting the "peaceful" vision in the traditional art of East Asia. Tadashi's art reflects the flow of time through his images.

Swiss Images
Mei Chaohui (Elliot Mei)'s photographs featuring Swiss sceneries and lifestyle will be exhibited at the grand hall of Channel One Shopping Center. Mei's pictures take an Oriental point of view to portray Western scenes, winning high acclaim both at home and abroad. At the same time, John X B Sun's water-ink paintings featuring scenes from Zurich will be shown at Shimen Gate shopping center.

River and Mountains
An exhibition is going on at the Mingyuan Art Center, showcasing Chinese paintings by four contemporary artists: Xiao Haichun, Che Pengfei, Le Zhenwen and Li Jinkun. All the four artists are well trained in traditional Chinese art and have found new expressions by incorporating new aesthetic ideas in their creation.

Zhang's Textiles Annual Exhibition
Zhang's Textiles, founded in 1970, is the largest time-honored company dealing in ancient embroidery from the Ming and Qing dynasties. The works are presented in hand-picked frames on historic canvases. Zhang's Textiles will present a month-long exhibition in One Xintiandi Clubhouse by invitation only.
