Breath of fresh air

Sun Wenjiu graduated from the Central Academy of Fine Arts and furthered his studies at the Ukraine Academy of Arts.

In Ukraine Scenery, Sun presents the snow-covered landscape of the vast land using just two colors - white and brown. Dominating the tableau is a log cabin, in front of which stands a wooden windmill. The undulating land extends to the horizon, dotted with cottages, windmills and trees.

"When I face the natural scenery of Ukraine, I breathe deeply the cold and moist air, feeling totally fresh as the whole body and mind are both washed," Sun says. "I have tried to convey this feeling to the viewers."
