Eleven die of carbon monoxide

Eleven people using coal-fired heaters have died from carbon monoxide poisoning so far this year after the city began to provide heating for its residents, the Beijing police said on Tuesday.

The Beijing Morning Post quoted the police as saying 11 cases had already happened so far this winter. The number is lower than the same period of last year. Many people without access to collective heating began to use coal stoves in November. Inadequate ventilation was alleged to be the main cause of poisoning.
